Gossip

They drag you down, they drag you down
Green-clouded eyes and purple frown
Finger-pointed barbs, dark thoughts
Whispered from a source unknown
Amuck in viral fog since when they flew
The mutterer's black-painted door

Truth meets them mute, with startled stare
Its wild defence vain slashing at the air
Malicious mockery, a smiling clown
The world goes on, time passes as it would
Indifferent to the evil that men do as to the good.

Do not despair, one of the thieves - but which?
The blood-dimmed tide has drowned all innocence
The other stands where Adonais once stood.
