Your Vote
Don’t waste your vote, sister, brother
I’m for you, you gotta be for me
The others are just assholes, let you down
Promise you the earth and all for free
You can’t afford it, let me tell you
Can’t afford the powers that be.

They’re the greatest, politicians,
Hear them out, all magicians
Pulling lies out of a hat
Slagging off the opposition
Telling you what you want to hear,
Even though they know it’s mostly crap.

Suppose we ought to pay attention
Though it’s clear they take us all for fools
They want five more years of misrule
We want peace and revolution.

Remember all the times that we protested
Marched through the streets expecting them to care
Now you’ll more likely get arrested
Under legislation introduced by Blair
We’re all potential terrorists unless
We acquiesce and acquiesce and acquiesce.

In order to protect us they demand
The right to lock us up on mere suspicion
And to meddle and rewrite the law
So nobody can question their decisions.
You don’t agree - then here’s the bitterest pill
The police are authorised to shoot and kill.

They say it’s all about prevention
They prevent, and we get to stay cool
They want five more years of misrule
We want peace and revolution.
